We are pleased to announce that our roaster, Machi, participated in the qualifying round of the "1st crack coffee challenge" competition organized by Giesen Japan, and was selected as one of the top 4 out of 60 finalists in the blind cupping competition. This is a new type of competition in which competitors roast two types of green beans that are sent in advance and submit them to the competition, competing on the basis of how well they reproduce the model roasted beans.

Unfortunately, I had to withdraw from the final due to my travel to the U.S., but the final will be held on the event stage at the Tokyo Cafe Show on July 29. If you have time, please come out to support the finalists!

No.1 Nicaragua Java Fully Washed

Sweet lemon-like fruity sweetness with a lingering tannic aftertaste reminiscent of black tea. The lower the temperature range, the more it changes to orange-like sweetness, with a slightly peel-like aftertaste and a mild bitterness. This is a Nicaraguan coffee with a consistent sense of dignity.

Floral, followed by apple, citrus and honey sweetness. The pleasant aftertaste, reminiscent of boiled vegetables, pepper, and herbal tea, persists, with a gorgeous lingering finish. This coffee shows the potential of Asian specialty coffees.
