1. Nicaragua Cup of Excellence2020 #1 Un Regalo de Dios
Farm: Un Regalo de Dios
Altitude: 1,230m
Process: Natural
Variety: Maracaturra
Producer: Luis Alberto Balladarez Moncada

Finca ¨A GIFT FROM GOD¨, is located in the Dipilto-Jalapa mountain range, in the community of Quisuli, Mozonte, Nueva Segovia. It is characterized by having an altitude of 1,350 to 1,700 meters above sea level with a cloudy forest climate and temperatures of 10 to 16 °C.

The type of soil on the farm is sandy loam, with abundant humus. Abundant biodiversity can be found in flora, with predominant broadleaves species, as well as conifers, and rainfall of 1,400 to 1,600 mm per year. All these conditions are great advantages for the production of quality coffee.

The farm currently consists of 260 manzanas (141 hectares), of which 120 manzanas (84.6 hectares) are coffee plantation and 140 manzanas (98.7 hectares) is pine forest.
Varieties: Yellow Catuaí, Red Catuaí, Maracaturra, Pacamara, Java, Bourbon,
Catimore, Hybrids Sl28, Parainema

2. Panama Berlina Naranjal Geisha
Region: Horqueta、Boquete
Farm: Berlina
Altitude: 1,500m- 1,700m
Process: Fully washed
Variety: Geisha
Producer: Plinio Ruíz

The Geisha is the world's hottest variety of specialty coffee. This Geisha, which is said to be the original species of Ethiopian origin, attracted the world's attention in 2004. It all started when La Esmeralda plantation's -Jarmillo Especial-, which was exhibited at the Best of Panama in Panama, recorded the highest bid at the time.

In 2004, Geisha seeds were passed from La Esmeralda plantation to Berlina Farm, relying on production technology, but the production of this overly delicate variety was not straightforward. It was in 2010 that they were finally able to harvest a full-fledged Geisha. And now, Geisha on the Berlina plantation has grown to the attention of buyers around the world.

By pairing some coffee trees with shade trees, the area planted is limited, but the ecosystem of migratory birds, wild birds, and insects is maintained. This allows the microorganisms in the soil to be active through humus in the natural environment, resulting in a significant reduction in the use of artificial fertilizers. In addition, this biodiversity has come to reflect the microclimates and characteristics of each plot, contributing to the diversity of flavors in the coffees they produce.

3.

Ruiz Selection Geisha Honey

Country of origin: Panama
Region: Jaramillo, Alto Quiel, Orquesta and Callejón Seco, Boquete District, Chiriqui Province
Producers: Several coffee farmers in the Boquete region
Variety: Geisha
Altitude: 1500-1600m
Process: Honey

K&R Specialty Coffee was founded by Plinio Ruiz, a former owner of the Berlina plantation. He exports Panama coffee all over the world. He cupped and blended coffees from the Boquete region to create this honey processed Geisha.

The Boquete region is one of the oldest coffee growing areas in Panama. Many of 'the Best of Panama' winners have come from the Boquete region. Some of the farms are well known and major, but there are also many small and unknown producers. This is where Plinio Ruiz got his start. Even unknown producers make good Geisha. Plinio went door to door, cupped, blended, and created the Ruiz Selection.
